Why Transition to UX Design: The "Why" Factor

When I worked in marketing, my role centered around understanding people—identifying their needs, crafting strategies to meet them, and ensuring they felt connected to the solutions we offered. But over time, I realized that even the most compelling campaigns couldn’t compensate for a product that wasn’t user-friendly. This realization sparked my curiosity about user experience and how design shapes the way people interact with products.

What Skills Transferred from Marketing to Coding & UX Design

My transition into software engineering deepened my technical understanding, allowing me to see how systems and interfaces work together. But as I coded features and contributed to product development, I found myself more fascinated by the “why” behind the designs—why users behaved a certain way, what motivated them, and how design could address their challenges.

To bridge my marketing background, technical expertise, and newfound passion for design, I took a UI/UX design course at JayJay School. This journey taught me the fundamentals of user research, wireframing, prototyping, and UX writing. It also reinforced my belief in the importance of empathy and storytelling in creating intuitive and impactful user experiences.
